SCADAmetrics is pleased to announce the introduction of the improved (v.257) EtherMeter!

The new EtherMeter adds 1500V galvanic isolation to the meter input channels and 2500V galvanic isolation to the serial ports; and it also boasts improvements to the 1500Vrms galvanic isolation of the Ethernet port, as well ⚊ all of which increases resilience against transient voltage events.

The most modern component technology was also leveraged, which led to an approximate 25% reduction in power consumption. Reduced power consumption will especially benefit solar-powered applications. The typical power consumption of the new EtherMeter is approximately 1.5W.

The firmware is virtually identical to that flashed into the v.256 EtherMeter. For this reason, the Serial/Telnet Setup Procedures (HyperTerminal, PuTTY) are virtually unchanged. However, the dip switch definitions were necessarily modified to a minor extent. Please review the User Manual for details.

For customers who utilize the EtherMeter as a “mini-RTU” for metering and valve stations, the v.257 EtherMeter provides a convenient, integrated 24VDC loop power source at terminal.05 (previously unused), which can be used to power one or two 4-20mA or 0-5V pressure transmitters.

The v.257 EtherMeter also provides a “factory-reset” button. When the reset button is depressed during a power-cycle or reboot, all user-settings are discarded and replaced with factory defaults.

Are you interested in learning how the new, improved EtherMeter can help your automation system to read both total consumption and realtime rate-of-flow from your flow meters with revenue-grade accuracy? Give us a call… We’ll be glad to help!
