{"id":572,"date":"2014-10-27T22:44:28","date_gmt":"2014-10-28T04:44:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/?p=572"},"modified":"2022-10-15T16:06:38","modified_gmt":"2022-10-15T22:06:38","slug":"ethermeter-compatible-with-badger-high-resolution-encoder-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/?p=572","title":{"rendered":"EtherMeter Compatible with Badger High-Resolution Encoder Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"attachment_3732\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3732\" src=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_0987-1-150x150.jpeg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_0987-1.jpeg 2x\" alt=\"James Mimlitz &#039;Slim&#039;\" class=\"avatar avatar-150 wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-150 photo\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3732\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jim &#8216;Slim&#8217; Mimlitz, SCADAmetrics<\/p><\/div>SCADAmetrics is pleased to report that the EtherMeter\u00a0has been\u00a0verified compatible with the new high-resolution, absolute-encoder water meter registers offered by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.badgermeter.com\">Badger Meter (Milwaukee, WI)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Badger&#8217;s new register family &#8212; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.badgermeter.com\/Water-Utility\/Encoders.htm\">HR-E (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">H<\/span>igh <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">R<\/span>esolution <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">E<\/span>ncoder)<\/a> &#8212; offers\u00a0vastly improved resolution over its legacy absolute encoder, the 6-Digit ADE.<\/p>\n<p>The High Resolution Encoder is offered in two variations: (1) the HR-E-LCD (fully electronic) and (2) the HR-E-MECH (electro-mechanical).<\/p>\n<p>The HR-E-LCD features an internal microprocessor &amp; LCD display,\u00a0transmits 9 digits of consumption resolution, and\u00a0is internal\u00a0battery-powered; whereas the HR-E-MECH features an electro-mechanical odometer display, transmits\u00a08 digits of consumption resolution, and does not contain (or require) an internal battery.<\/p>\n<p>When connected to a SCADAmetrics EtherMeter, the increased resolution allows the user to collect realtime rate-of-flow information and also helps with leak detection algorithms.\u00a0 And, as with all encoder-type registers, it allows for revenue-grade-accurate totalization.\u00a0 However, it is important to note that the HR-E may also\u00a0be ordered with the option to transmit less than the maximum number of digits.\u00a0 Therefore,\u00a0when ordering\u00a0an HR-E\u00a0register from Badger Meter, it is important to specify that the\u00a0register be pre-programmed to transmit <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>ALL<\/em><\/span> available digits!<\/p>\n<p>The HR-E family of registers is compatible with Badger&#8217;s\u00a0Turbo Series, Recordall\u00ae Disc Series, Compound Series, and Fire Service meters.
