Many of those value-added scenarios are documented <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/?p=3238\">HERE<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to expand upon the scenarios illustrated in the aforementioned article, an application that warrants special attention is the migration from a Turbine-based flow meter &amp; (now discontinued) Sensus ACT-PAK toward an equivalent SCADA solution that is based upon ultrasonic flow metering technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"687\" height=\"694\" src=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/sensus_act_pak_01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3118\" style=\"width:219px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/sensus_act_pak_01.jpg 687w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/sensus_act_pak_01-297x300.jpg 297w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em>Sensus ACT-PAK (Discontinued)<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The combination of SCADAmetrics models <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scadametrics.com\/products\/products.htm#EMP\">EMP Signalizer<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scadametrics.com\/products\/products.htm#APKPLUS\">APK.PLUS Analog\/Pulse Kit Plus<\/a><\/strong> can often serve as a similar (but not identical) replacement for the discontinued ACT-PAK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scadametrics.com\/products\/products.htm#APKPLUS\">SCADAmetrics model APK.PLUS<\/a><\/strong> is housed in a NEMA-4X enclosure, and it provides an always-on, 2&#215;16 backlit visual LCD display, which emphasizes the following data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rate-of-Flow (GPM or LPM)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Master Totalization (based on pulse) &#8211; User Resettable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Day&#8221; Totalization (based on pulse) &#8211; User Resettable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Status of 4-20mA Output<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During commissioning, the following general steps should be followed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Kamstrup FlowIQ meter should be outfitted with a FLYING LEAD UI.1203 encoder cable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FlowIQ Encoder Resolution should be set, per the table in the illustration below.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The encoder signal from the FlowIQ should be connected to a SCADAmetrics EMP Signalizer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> The pulse output of the EMP Signalizer should be connected to the pulse input terminals of the APK.PLUS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The EMP Signalizer dip switches should be set to match the meter type (model, units, diameter), per the lookup tables in the Signalizer datasheet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Kamstrup_EMP_APKPLUS_03-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"954\" src=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Kamstrup_EMP_APKPLUS_03-1024x954.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4350\" style=\"width:641px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Kamstrup_EMP_APKPLUS_03-1024x954.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Kamstrup_EMP_APKPLUS_03-300x280.jpg 300w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Kamstrup_EMP_APKPLUS_03-768x716.jpg 768w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Kamstrup_EMP_APKPLUS_03-1536x1431.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Kamstrup_EMP_APKPLUS_03-2048x1908.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em>Kamstrup FlowIQ Meter, EMP Signalizer, and APK.PLUS Analog\/Pulse Kit Plus (Click to zoom).<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note that EMP Terminals [9,10] should be connected to APK.PLUS Pulse Input Terminals [2,3].  It is important to note that APK.PLUS Pulse Input Terminal [1] should be left unconnected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two 4-20mA SCADA outputs are available:  One (1) 4-20mA output from the EMP Signalizer, and one (1) 4-20mA output from the APK.PLUS.  The APK.PLUS also features one (1) dry-contact pulse output, and one (1) dry-contact flow switch (which can be repurposed as a second pulse output).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If an encoder display is desired, then a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scadametrics.com\/products\/products.htm#TMD\">model TMD TheMeterDisplay<\/a><\/strong> can be connected to the pass-thru terminals of the EMP Signalizer.
