Here at&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scadametrics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SCADAmetrics (Wildwood, MO)<\/a><\/strong>, we manufacture flow metering instrumentation in support of the water metering industry, as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of Alert Labs&#8217; instruments is the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alertlabs.com\/products\/flowie-o-water-flow-sensor\">model Flowie-O<\/a><\/strong>, which attaches to a water meter, detects flow by sensing the meter&#8217;s internal rotating magnet, and provides the property owner with usage and leak detection information.  The Flowie-O also features an alternate operational mode, where is can be wired directly to flow meters that feature a pulse output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Flowie_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"860\" height=\"674\" src=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Flowie_02.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3737\" style=\"width:259px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Flowie_02.jpg 860w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Flowie_02-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Flowie_02-768x602.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Model Flowie-O by Alert Labs<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there are many meters that fit into the following category:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No Moving Parts \u2014 Ultrasonic \/ Electro-Magnetic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No Pulse Output \u2014 Sensus\/Neptune\/Elster Protocols (3-Wire Encoded Only)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples include popular municipal-style flow meters, such as the <strong>Neptune Mach-10<\/strong>, <strong>Sensus iPerl<\/strong>, <strong>Kamstrup FlowIQ<\/strong>, <strong>Zenner Stealth<\/strong>, <strong>Badger E-Series<\/strong>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">many<\/span> others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SCADAmetrics <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scadametrics.com\/products\/products.htm#EMP\">model EMP Signalizer (US Patent No. 11,041,738)<\/a><\/strong> can be used the bridge this gap by converting the 3-wire encoded output from such water meters into a compatible 2-wire pulse output that can be directly wired to the Flowie-O. Because the Signalizer does not interfere with the utility&#8217;s AMI\/AMR meter-reading system, concurrent Flowie-O and AMI\/AMR connectivity is achieved.
