Panasonic\u2019s CR-123A is manufactured in Columbus, GA \u2015 and boasts the highest available CR-123A energy capacity: 1550 mAh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to compress the testing within a reasonable time period, an apparatus was built to automatically generate a meter-read request every 30 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-medium is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Panasonic_123_01-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1882\" width=\"150\" height=\"113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Panasonic_123_01-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Panasonic_123_01-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Panasonic_123_01-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/scadametrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Panasonic_123_01.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><figcaption>Panasonic Lithium 123 Cell. Energy Capacity 1550mAh.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The water meter in the test was a <strong>Neptune Model T-10, 5\/8&#8243;<\/strong>, outfitted with a <strong>Neptune Pro-Coder register<\/strong>.  The backlight was set to \u2018ON\u2019, the Meter-ID Display was set to \u2018OFF\u2019, Measurement Units were set to \u2018Gallons\u2019, and Rate-of-Flow Display was set to \u2018OFF\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An IP camera, connected to an NVR (Network Video Recorder), was set to visually record TheMeterDisplay during the test, and to ascertain the exact time of battery depletion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><strong>Begin Date\/Time: 17 Feb 2020, 4:45PM\nEnd Date\/Time: 22 Feb 2020, 2:45AM\nTotal Duration: ~106 Hrs.\nNumber of Meter Reads: ~12,720<\/strong><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of this test, and after accounting for battery self-discharge, <strong>the approximate life expectancy of TheMeterDisplay&#8217;s lithium cell was determined to be 10,000 meter reads or 10 years \u2015 whichever occurs first.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And unlike with the industry&#8217;s other remote wall displays, the battery in TheMeterDisplay is <strong>user-replaceable<\/strong> after depletion!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Basic Meter Reads were performed during this battery longevity test (Total=ON, Backlight=ON, Meter ID=OFF, Flow Rate=OFF).
